UK Registered Traveller Service Terms and Conditions
1. Applying to join the Registered Traveller Service
If we turn down your application to join the Registered Traveller Service, we will usually send you an email explaining why. We may not send you an explanation if we think there’s a good reason not to (e.g. security).
Applications can be made either by you, or by someone acting on your behalf, as long as that person has your full consent to proceed. If, with your full consent, someone else submits an application on your behalf, the answers they give will be accepted as if declared by you. Accordingly, you should be sure that the person submitting the application on your behalf has all the information they need to answer the questions accurately and truthfully.
2. Using the Registered Traveller Service
Membership does not guarantee you entry to the UK. You still have to meet the usual immigration requirements, and you must follow any conditions attached to your Leave to Enter or Remain in the UK.
You can’t transfer your membership to anyone else.
Membership lasts for 12 months from the date of provisional acceptance. However, we may suspend or end your membership in some circumstances. For example:
- you no longer qualify for membership (e.g. because your UK visa or Leave to Remain expires)
- UK immigration rules change
- we need to for national security reasons
- we need to in order to keep a port or airport operating efficiently
3. Fees, Payments and Refunds
There is a £70 fee to join the Registered Traveller Service. This is set in UK legislation in UK pounds (GBP). Changes to the fees are approved by the UK Parliament.
Payment may be made either by you, or by a person or organisation paying on your behalf (e.g. an employer, colleague, school or relative).
Your membership of the service is conditional upon acceptance by Border Force and lasts for 12 months from the date you are provisionally accepted.
Should you wish to withdraw your application after it has been finalised and before a decision has been made on it, you will be entitled to a refund of the annual membership fee (£50).
The annual membership fee (£50) will also be refunded if your application is refused. In these circumstances you will not receive a refund of £20 as this covers administration costs for considering your application. The annual membership fee (£50) will only be refunded after an application has been provisionally or fully accepted in exceptional circumstances such as death, natural disasters and closure of major airports participating in the Registered Traveller Service. Refunds will be made to the card you used to make your payment within 28 days.
Refunds will be made to the card you used to make your payment within 28 days.
4. Legal Disputes
If part of these terms and conditions is found to be unenforceable, it won't affect the rest of the terms and conditions.
Our agreement with you (as a member of the Registered Traveller Service) will be governed by English law. Any legal dispute about your membership or use of the Registered Traveller Service must be settled in the English courts.
5. Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
The provisions of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 shall not apply to the service.
